ABOUT THE ARTIST
Smith Georges-
Contemporary renowned Haitian-American artist born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Son of a prominent Haitian artist, Duclavier Leconte Georges.  Smith is an accomplished artist.  He started painting and sculpting at the age of 7.  Smith attended Foyer Des Arts Plastics, a fine Haitian Art School.  In U.S.A. Smith attended La Guardia Community College (Accounting), Baruch College (Accounting) and New York Tech College where he majored in Architectural Design. He uses all types of mediums such as wood, marble, metal, leather, stone, water color, collage, acrylic and oil on canvas.  His style is influenced by his father's modern and surrealistic sculptures.  His work has also been on exhibit at leading art galleries and private exhibitions throughout Haiti, the US and several other countries worldwide.  His work has been featured on the front page of the New York Times, on CBS (TV),  in Time magazine, college textbooks by Simon & Schuster and other distinguished publications.  Smith's paintings and sculptures are in private collections in Haiti, U.S.A., several Caribbean countries - as well as in Europe, Africa and other parts of the world.  Among the collectors of his artworks are President Bill Clinton, President Jean Bertrand Aristide, actor Danny Glover, soccer Legend/King Pele, singer/entertainer Wyclef Jean and several other celebrities and dignitaries.  Smith plays guitar and composes French songs.

While working for the American Stock Exchange, he experienced the 9/11 trauma.  The very next day, he started working on the idea of a project that engaged people in the U.S.A. and around the world to share their thoughts about 9/11.  He also spent two years working on his very well known painting/collage "A Tribute to 9/11 Heroes".  Smith is currently writing a book About the famous Haitian-American international neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

ARTIST STATEMENT -
"Who would have predicted that the Haitian-American neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat’ s paintings would be sold today on the market for millions of dollars a piece?  Art is a medium that we are to enjoy then be left to the future generations.  Investing in art is not just rewarding financially; it also brings you closer to the creative world.  My creations will outlive me one day.  It’s unfortunate that artists, particularly, in the fine arts world, most of the time, know fame after their death."
